FAQs

Especially when it’s your first massage, people have a lot of questions. Here are some common Q/A to help you out.

  • This is a very common question among new clients. Whatever makes you comfortable is the best answer here. Some leave their underwear on and some do not. Hip and glute work flows better without material in the way, but compressions on top of the sheet are beneficial too. I promise you we do not judge you by how much or little you undress - and we modestly drape areas we are not massaging.

  • That’s up to you. Are you getting a massage to chat and socialize at the same time? Or are you getting a massage because you want to relax and do or say nothing other than what is minimally required as feedback for your massage? I will follow your lead. This session is about you and your desires.

In my personal massage experience as a client, I like to not say a word and just thoroughly enjoy all the feels as stress and tension leave my body. I think you can enjoy your massage more thoroughly if you just relax and let your mind rest too :).

  • Wherever they are comfortable. Some people hang them off the side, and some people rest them up on the table. I will move them as I need to according to where and how I am massaging.

  • Please let me know if you are too warm or too cold, as I can adjust the table warmer accordingly. I want to make sure you are comfortable.

  • That depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a relaxation massage, then no because the goal is relaxation.
If you come in needing deep work because your muscles are already sore, then the pain tolerance is up to you. A massage does not need to hurt to be healing. But if you’re already in knots, sometimes those areas will be tender. Please speak up and let me know if you want more or less pressure and I will adjust accordingly.

  • Drink, drink, drink all the water you can. Water helps the toxins flush through your body, and also helps any soreness run its course that may show up after 24 hours. If you had deep work done, it is very possible that your muscles in those areas will be sore the next day. This is normal, and the soreness will go away and you will continue to keep feeling better.

  • ALWAYS! Every client gets a clean set of sheets and face cradle cover. Sheets and linens are definitely washed between sessions. I also routinely spray everything down with disinfectant spray.

  • It’s actually quite normal for people to fall asleep during my massages. And yes, some people snore. And that’s completely fine. If it makes you feel any better, I snore too! Just not while I’m massaging you ;). Snoring is human, and since I massage humans…well, snoring is gonna happen!

  • I sure do! You can get them here: gift certificates

  • Enhancements that can be purchased when booking include:

aromatherapy, scalp massage, hot towels, hand/foot scrub, hot stones, decompression cups, & muscle & joint relief cream.

  • Not one bit! Human bodies are not perfect! Rest assured that that is the last thing I am thinking about during your massage. My focus is you as a person, and how to help you feel your best!

  • Regular massage has soooo many mental and physical benefits. Some people receive massage monthly and some weekly or bi-weekly.

Bundles and memberships are available to make regular massage more affordable for you.

  • Benefits of massage include: muscle & joint pain relief, mental health, stress relief, enhanced immunity, increased flexibility & range of motion, improved circulation, improved sleep, & more.

  • Excellent question! When you pay for a massage, you are also helping with the cost of a lease, utilities, equipment, furniture, travel, time, expertise, continuing education, and physical service. We love what we do! And we cannot keep doing it if our income doesn’t pay our bills and support our families :).

  • That depends on what your focus is, along with whether or not you want a full body massage.

Any area you want avoided can and will be avoided at your request. This will go on your intake form as well as discuss it with your massage therapist.

Massage by Makayla does not massage breast tissue or areas covered by a bikini. Massage is strictly platonic and therapeutic.

  • I will leave the room while you undress to your level of comfort. You will then lay face-down under the clean sheet and blanket provided on the table.

As I massage, I will uncover the areas I am massaging, and cover them back up when I am finished.

Private areas are NEVER massaged and ALWAYS covered.

  • The massage is about you, and if for any reason you need the massage to stop, please let me know and I will stop.

Also, if you are too hot or cold, the table warmer and fan can be adjusted.

The face cradle can be adjusted to the best level for your head/neck.

Pillows are also available for prenatal massages.

Your comfort and modesty are my priority.

  • Appointments need to start on time to guarantee the full amount of hands on massage time for a session. You are still responsible for the full session, and I want you to have all your minutes!

  • Both are marked as a “no-show” and will be fully charged because another client was not able to book a spot that was already taken. Hopefully this just doesn’t happen :). Some people set an alarm or reminder in their phone to help with this. My system does send out text reminders the day before, so this helps you too!

  • Yes! This can be done up until 48 hours before your appointment.

There will be a 50% charge after that because of difficulty booking another client in your place in that small time-frame.
